Yucaipa, CA - PAUL RENKENBERGER OBITUARY
Paul Herbert Renkenberger died on September 28, 2025 after a four month battle with Guillain Barre Syndrome. He was born on April 13, 1939, in Canfield, Ohio to Gerald Renkenberger and Helena Beery Renkenberger. He resided with his wife and family for 38 years in Yucaipa, California.
Paul met the former Joan Burbick at the Friends Church in Salem, Ohio. Their first date was an airplane ride. They were married June 23, 1961.
Paul loved flying. Early in his career he was a ferry pilot delivering airplanes all over the United States. A little later he became a corporate pilot flying executives to various sites for their business and pleasure trips. He then became a missionary pilot with JAARS (Jungle Aviation And Radio Service), the aviation division of Wycliffe Bible Translators. Being a missionary pilot was where his heart was. He flew a DC-3 in Ecuador for one term, then became a bush pilot in Papua New Guinea flying a Cessna 206.
In his retired years, Paul enjoyed his time at Redlands Airport and being available to fly with anyone who might need his calm expertise. His total flying time for his lifetime comes to 14,931 hours.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and also his brother, Jack Renkenberger, and sister Sarah Wank. He leaves his wife Joan and their five children Neva Liudahl, Holly Placencia, Randy Renkenberger, Marcia Renkenberger, and Vicki Merrill. He will be greatly missed by us all.
A memorial service is being planned for November 10th at 11:00 at The Well Church in Yucaipa.
