Yucaipa, CA - John Kelly McLeod, a man whose laughter and love echoed through the hearts of all who knew him, was called home on the 11th of November, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on the 6th of January, 1957, in San Antonio, TX, John's journey of life eventually led him to find his eternal rest in Yucaipa, CA, surrounded by the warmth of his family's love.
John will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 38 years, Kimberly, who was not only his life partner but also his caregiver for the past 7 1/2 years. Their union blessed them with two sons, Kelly and Lucien (Luke), who inherited their father's humor and strength. Juliana Novaes McLeod and Laura Lamm McLeod, John's daughters-in-law, along with his cherished grandchildren, Kenzington, Easton, and Stormi, filled his days with joy and laughter. He is also survived by his siblings, Joseph & Carol McLeod, Elizabeth Howard & Family, Patti Staack & Family, Scott McLeod & Family, and Martha McLeod, as well as his in-laws, GH & Bonnie Brown, DeAnna Maynard & Family, and Kenneth & Rebecca Brown & Family, and a host of dear friends. Preceding him in departure from this life were his parents, Lucien & Gertrude (Gayle) McLeod, and his sibling, Mary McLeod, and brothers-in-law, Frank Asay and Shawn Staack.
John's career was as diverse and robust as his personality. He worked at the Ontario Air International Guard Reserve Restaurant and worked his magic as short order cook and later in kitchens across Upland, CA, before his talents led him to the Blade Tribune Newspaper in Oceanside, CA. His dedication and work ethic saw him rise from folding papers to managing the camera room. Eventually, he traded the ink for pipes and wrenches, opening John McLeod Plumbing in Yucaipa. John was more than a plumber; he was a household hero, solving problems with a smile and kind words, ensuring every customer felt like the most important person in the world.
When the physical demands of plumbing required a curtain call, John embraced a new role as Observer/Site Representative for Circlewood Services. Here, he combined his love for driving, security, and camaraderie, making every day an adventure until an Auto Immune Disease prompted a change of pace in 2019.
A devout Christian, John lived his faith through action and humor. He was the embodiment of a "People Person," always eager to strike up a conversation, lend a hand, or share a hearty chuckle. His passion for life was evident in his dedication early on to his sons' sports and scouting activities, where he was not just a dad but the funniest, most supportive friend that they could hope for.
John's interests were as eclectic as his resume. With a knack for gardening and love of the desert, he cultivated cacti and succulents with the same care he gave to his relationships. He loved a good drive, a savory barbeque and the simple pleasure of cooking with his wife by his side. He spoke with his siblings every single day on the phone and often several times a day. Even as his illness progressed, John found his greatest happiness in the company of his family, whether cheering on his granddaughter at softball, playing checkers with his grandson, or making his youngest granddaughter giggle with his silly faces and "farty" sounds.
Loving, funny, and faith-filled, John Kelly McLeod was a beacon of joy and kindness in this world. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and the power of a life well-lived in service to others. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the indelible mark he left on our lives and the assurance that his spirit will continue to guide us with his hearty laugh and a twinkle in his eye.
